Product: Image Conduit
Image conduits are composed of many individual plastic optical fibers fused together. Each fiber transmits a single pixel of the image. There are three generic types of image conduit. These products are itemized below.
1. Fiber Bundle
This product type, also known as image guide, is generally flexible and usually composed of many thousands of long microfibers arranged in a tight parallel array. Fiber bundles are commonly shaped like a long piece of string or cable.
2. Fiber Optic Plate
This product type is generally rigid and inflexible. Many thousands of microfibers are arrayed, but their lengths are very short. Though not always circular, fiber optic plates are commonly coin shaped with a large surface area relative to their thickness.
3. Custom Conduit
These products fall between the above polar opposites. Composed of microfibers, they can be rigid or flexible with dimensions that are comparable to each other, like a cube or sphere, as opposed to wide and flat or long and thin.
